Graphik, designed by Christian Schwartz and released in 2009, was inspired by expressive graphic design made with plain "vanilla" typefaces. It was a reinterpretation of the lesser known mid century typefaces without the baggage of the more familiar ones like Univers, Helvetica or Futura, neatly straddling the line between the round bowls of a geometric sans and the structures and proportions of a European grotesk. Similarly, Graphik Georgian, designed by Yury Ostromentsky, simplifies some structures that are typically more complex for a smooth and even tone.
